The Substantial Evidence

The Substantial Evidence was one of the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s top party/dance bands in the late 60s.  Known for covers of some of the best pop dance tunes of the 60s, the band was popular at night clubs and community dance parties across Mississippi and Louisiana.  The band recorded “Death Angel” and “Please Walk On By” as their first 45-RPM single recorded at the famed Cosmos Studios in New Orleans, Louisiana.  A later recording session in Muscle Shoals, Alabama resulted in a re-release of “Death Angel” with “Hang Loose, Mother Goose (You Got Soul) but the session masters were lost until a low-quality mix was surfaced in 2011.  Both singles were released on the band’s own “Groovy Grape” label and Death Angel was later released in the 1990s on a “60s Garage Bands” CD.
